Phil Andrews, owner of Moles Club, who provided a great intimate showcase venue, with the best sound system and lighting rig, Bands even came down from London to showcase their performances in front of those messed up A&R men.

Journalists.
Simon Kinserly,s page called the Speakeasy, around 1972, every Thursday night in the Bath Chronicle. The first ever band he reviewed for the speakeasy page was was Under The Sun playing at the bath Tech.
Every band and musician bought that Thursday paper to see if they had been glorified or crucified.

Fred Williams, took over the Speakeasy page and carried on the good work, with some very creative crucifixions.
Fred was a good guy to know because he was one of the resident DJ’s at Moles molesDJ’s at moles, so where else to get your latest song blasted out over a thousand watt PA to a dancing crowd. It was bad news when they stopped dancing, because you realised that your song was crap.

Hand over of power

Sadly passed away in 2003.

Lets not forget the Bath Fringe Festival, who staged mini open air concerts in Walcot playing fields. enabling local bands to hammer it out in the open.

They put a great tune behind Suzanne Vega’s accapella track, Tom’s Diner. Her record company went berzerk, threatened them with destruction, like hand over the goodies or else, we will ruin you, so they did. The remix was a huge hit,  so as well as re launching Vega’s career, the successes of the remix made DNA into big time remix boys.
